Project Engineer – Civil – Cootamundra

Key responsibilities include:

Technical

  1. Manage the investigation, planning survey and design of new and upgraded civil infrastructure.
  2. Engage and manage external consultants to undertake conceptual and detailed design and cost estimates for major civil & building projects.
  3. Plan, co-ordinate and supervise the construction and maintenance of roads, stormwater drainage, roundabouts, footpaths, cycleway, bridges, culverts and ancillary works.
  4. Provide technical advice and administrative support to the Manager Engineering Services in managing Council’s civil infrastructure assets.
  5. Ensure that all activities are undertaken in accordance with Council’s Work Health & Safety procedures and in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
  6. Ensure all planning, design, construction and maintenance activities are completed on time, within the allocated budget and to Council’s and TfNSW standards and specifications as applicable.
  7. Ensure compliance with NSW Local Government Act and Council’s Procurement Policy in relation to procurement and tendering of goods and services.
  8. Prepare tender documentation and specifications, call and evaluate tenders, and make recommendations to Council following the evaluation of tenders.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure customer enquiries and complaints are handled professionally in a pleasant, courteous and efficient manner at all times.
  2. Provide Council’s office cashiering function, ensuring payments presented are accurately recorded and receipted.
  3. Regularly liaise with other customer service officers (across both Council offices), as well as other Council departments, to ensure consistent customer communications.
  4. Ensure bookings for Council facilities are accurate and insurance details are obtained in accordance with Council procedures.
  5. Ensure administrative tasks are performed accurately and efficiently.

WATER & SEWER Attendant – COOTAMUNDRA (Full time)

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Water & Sewer Attendant, based at our Bradman Street Depot, Cootamundra.

This role assists in day-to-day water & sewer operations, repairs and maintenance of Council’s water & sewage treatment plants, pump stations, reticulation systems, and reuse facilities.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Ensures the efficient operation of the Water and Sewage Treatment Plants, pump stations, reticulation systems and reuse systems, through ongoing monitoring, maintenance & repairs, and construction.
  2. Ensures water sampling, testing and recording is undertaken to meet required standards of treated and recycled effluent.
  3. Ensures the grounds of the Water & Sewage Treatment Plants facility and related work areas are maintained and presented to required Council standard.
  4. Ensure that all activity undertaken at Plant worksites is conducted safely.
  5. Attend to sewer and water supply emergency calls and ensure customer requests are attended to promptly and efficiently.
  6. Be available to respond to on-call activities on a rotating on-call roster.
  7. Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external customers.

The function of this role is to operate road compaction rollers to undertake Council works as directed by the Works Supervisor and contribute to the manual labour pool within the Operations Department.

Key responsibilities include:

Trainee Water & Sewer Attendant – COOTAMUNDRA (Full time)

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Trainee Water & Sewer Attendant, based at our Cootamundra Depot.

Council is seeking applications from hard working and motivated individuals looking for a start in the water and sewer industry. This role assists with water & sewer work whilst undertaking the on-the-job training component of a traineeship and learning water and sewer skills in the Local Government environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Provide support for works undertaken by the Water & Sewer team.
  2. Attend off-the-job structured training as required by the Training Agreement for the Traineeship and other short courses as identified.
  3. Participate in a team environment by performing tasks within the Water and Sewer section.
  4. Deliver quality customer service to both external and internal customers.
  5. Carry out any other duties that are within the limits of the employees’ skill, competence, and training.
  6. Abide by legislation and policy regarding Work Health & Safety, Environmental, Equal Employment Opportunity, Privacy and the Local Government Act and regulations and authorising bodies.
