Two-hour parking has been implemented in Wallendoon Street Cootamundra to alleviate the demand on parking outside the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) Administration offices and War Memorial Library.
The new parking restriction of two hours is on the eastern side of Wallendoon Street between Cooper and Thompson Streets and will open up more parking spaces for library patrons and Council customers.
The decision to implement the new parking time restriction has come following feedback from the public.
Acting Manager Regional Services Cootamundra Mr Steve Lowe said “Council has received feedback from the public about difficulty in securing parking in the CBD area of Cootamundra.
“Council has run campaigns reminding drivers and requesting courtesy when parking, in the CBD. The decision to instigate the time restriction was ultimately made at the Local Traffic Committee, with input from TfNSW, Police and local representation.”
“Feedback from the community has also included concerns about motorists exceeding the parking time limits. Parking Infringement Notices may be issued to motorists who are ignoring parking time limits, and this comes with a penalty of $92.00.” Mr Lowe said.
“Whilst we don’t want to start issuing parking infringement notices, public pressure and the demand on parking within the CBD has increased. Parking fines can be issued by Council or Police,” Mr Lowe added.
