Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) has assumed responsibility for completing the final stages of two major projects in Gundagai to ensure their delivery for community use.
In November 2023, Council engaged construction company Dalski Pty Ltd to deliver three projects:
- The Gundagai Swimming Pool Amenities Refurbishment
- The Gundagai Visitor Information Centre (VIC) Refurbishment
- The Carberry Park Amenities Block
The Swimming Pool amenities refurbishment has now been completed and opened, although later than originally programmed.
The Gundagai Visitor Information Centre refurbishment and the Carberry Park Amenities Block remain incomplete, with works left at approximately 95% and little further progress occurring on site since December 2024. Council has now taken over both projects to bring them to completion.
Council staff and local contractors are undertaking the finishing works, including site clean-up, landscaping, external entry paths, internal painting, and installation of lighting.
The refurbished Visitor Information Centre is scheduled for completion by late September. The Centre will provide a modern, accessible, and more inviting space to welcome visitors, featuring an expanded retail section showcasing local produce and wines, enhanced interpretation of the Rusconi Marble Masterpiece, and interactive displays to promote Gundagai’s attractions and experiences.
The project also incorporates the new Carberry Park Amenities Block, which includes male and female toilets, an ambulant toilet, and an adult lift-and-change facility to provide improved accessibility for people with complex disabilities.
The new Gundagai Visitor Information Centre and Carberry Park Amenities Block will be open to the public on Saturday, 27 September 2025. A date for an Official Opening will be announced soon after.
