FLOOD WARNING REVIEW AN OPPORTUNITY

Cootamundra residents interested in the review of the Flood Warning System for Cootamundra are encouraged to attend a community consultation drop-in session to be held in the Stephen Ward rooms on Wednesday 13 August from 3pm to 6pm.

The session will be facilitated by Water Technology, flood consultants commission to assist Council with the review, and has been funded by 24-25 NSW State Floodplain Management Program.

The review aims to increase the effectiveness of the flood warning system and help reduce the risk to life and property within the Cootamundra township. Members of the Cootamundra SES, Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council and other emergency services will have input and access to the Flood Warning System ensuring future flooding events are managed within expected levels and resource capacity.

The drop-in session will enable residents and businesses to give some feedback on flood experience and recommend improvements to the existing flood warning system. An online engagement portal will also be provided to enable residents and businesses to pin their comments to a map covering the Cootamundra area.
